Unicapital Group

Unicapital, Inc. is a full-service investment house, duly licensed by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission to provide the broadest array of finance and investment banking-related product lines. The Company's history may be traced back to the year 1994, when its founders i.e. MAJALCO, Inc. and GMA Network, Inc., entered into a joint venture to form the investment house. Unicapital, subsequently acquired 100% of the Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc. (MFII), an active finance company founded in 1976 by its Chairman, Atty. Augusto A. Martirez.

In 1997, the Company expanded its services to cover the area of equity sales and trading through the formation of a majority-owned subsidiary, the Unicapital Securities, Inc. (UnicapSec), a securities brokerage house licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a bona-fide member of the Philippine Stock Exchange.

 

Unicapital Securities, Inc.

Unicapital Securities, Inc. (USI) was established on 10 March 1997 for the primary purpose of engaging in the sales and dealing of Philippine equity securities. It was registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 4 April 1997 with an authorized capital of P200 m and a paid up capital of P110 m. Having acquired its membership with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on 28 May 1997, it received its securities broker and dealer license from the SEC on 19 June 1997.

USI commenced actual trading operations with the PSE on 30 July 1997. USI's trading operations are located at the Ayala Tower One trading floor of the PSE. Its main offices (sales/dealing, research and operations) are located at the Majalco Building, Benavidez corner Trasierra Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati City.

Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc.

Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc. (MFII) is a duly registered finance company incorporated in 1976 by its founder, Atty. Augusto A. Martirez. With an initial paid-up capital of P1.00mn at its inception, MFII has managed to grow its market base, catering to the needs of its corporate clients by providing them with an array of innovative financial products as well as traditional products and services, such as receivables discounting and factoring for the working capital requirements of its clients, direct loans, inventory financing and group salary loans for the employees of its corporate clients. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Unicapital, Inc., a full service investment house and an active member of the Philippine Finance Association.

Martirez which is primarily engaged in real estate investments in prime commercial properties located in the Makati Central Business District and other major locations in Metro Manila. It also has controlling interests in CCC Insurance, Inc., Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc., Malayan Savings and Mortgage Bank, Midland Pacific and Development Corp., Acme Jewelry, Inc. and Acme Pawnshops, Inc.
 

GMA Network, Inc. (48.06%) - The country's second largest free-to-air broadcasting network with 48 VHF television, 10 FM and 2 AM stations locally. GMA 7 also broadcasts to 22 countries in the region and in the USA using the AGILA II satellite.

Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc.

Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc. (MFII) is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Unicapital, Inc. (UI). UI is a full-service investment house duly licensed by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission to provide the broadest array of finance and investment banking-related product lines.

Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc. was acquired by Unicapital, Inc. when the latter was formed under the joint venture of mother company MAJALCO, Inc. and GMA Network, Inc. in 1994. MFII has remained an active finance company to date since it was established in 1976.

Majalco Finance and Investments, Inc. is one of the two companies under Unicapital, Inc. Its stock brokerage affiliate, the Unicapital Securities, Inc. shares the MFII's standing under the Unicapital Group.
